Recording electrodermal activity from palmar sites
1. Standard electrodes (13 mm outside diameter) consist of a 8 mm contact area, covered with a sintered silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) layer, and a plastic rim that forms a chamber for the electrode jelly.
2. One side of a double-sided adhersive collar (20 mm outside and 8 mm inside diameter) is attached to the electrode.
3. For better handling, the electrodes are attached to a table rim with the uncovered side of the adhesive collar. An isotonic electrode jelly is filled into the electrode chamber. Surplus jelly is removed with a straight edged paper (preferably from the paper on which the adhersive collars were mounted).
4. Thereafter, the protective cover is removed from the collar, and the electrode is attached to the skin (thenar/hypothenar sites are shown here).
5. Tape is used for fixation of the electrode cables to avoid strain on the electrodes.
